Vacation Bible School Youth Rally - Liftoff of New Fall Youth Programs Building on the momentum of summer's high-spirited and successful vacation Bible school, Renton Corps leaders invited all the VBS participants to attend a special September Saturday rally to join in the fun and liftoff of new fall programs for youth at the Renton worship center. Lunch launched the events planned for the rally hotdogs, cookies and other nibbles known to appeal to young appetites. Then the 28 children -- drawn from as far as Renton's Skyway, Benson Hill and Fairwood neighborhoods got into the action with 30 minutes of energetic dancing and singing to favorites like I'm in God's Army and I Just Wanna Be A Sheep. Melissa Rankin and Austin Anderson led the musical hijinks, which had youngsters jumping and shouting out the refrains. With interests engaged, the children were divided into four age groups for interactive Bible lessons based on the theme We All Have Sinned. Renton Corps young adults helped as leaders and guides throughout the afternoon's rally events. |
